Dog Lived In A Rusty Cage At A Meat Farm. Watch His Reaction When He Walks On Grass For The First Time!
This story is heart-wrenching, whether you are a dog lover or not. It is almost unbearable to report stories of such animal cruelty, but without shining the light on these horrendous acts, I feel that we would be contributing to the horror This video tells the story of Pocket who was incarcerated in a cage in a dog meat farm in South Korea.
Having spent his entire life in this metal cage, he had never experienced the normal things of a dog’s life; no sunshine, walking on grass, chewing a stick and exploring… never even enjoying a bowl of water. Thankfully his luck changed when he, and 100 other dogs were rescued by the Humane Society International, and brought to the United States.
Like any living being who had lived in such wretched, isolating conditions, introducing Pocket to a normal dog’s life took encouragement and a gentle approach. Pocket’s entire life had been spent in that metal cage, which made the outside world an overwhelming place for him to absorb initially.
What is so amazing about many dogs, once rescued, is that they are capable of learning to eventually trust and enjoy a normal, beautiful life, despite the horrible conditions they have endured. I shed a tear watching the video below, in which we see footage of Pocket hesitantly walking on grass for the first time. His body language is one of fearful caution, as he is lovingly encouraged by his new family.
In this second video below, taken on day 2 of his rescue, your heart will be warmed by his progress in just one day. Pocket has never played with another dog; he and his new pal gnaw on a stick together. Pocket is so gentle in his play.
Your heart will burst with joy for this animal who is getting a second chance to have a normal, loving life.

Let me say at the outset, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! Just about all of us carry cell phones that contain lithium-ion batteries (also known as Li-ion batteries), and we would never even remotely think of our phones as being flammable.
The person who made this video was obviously fascinated with seeing what would happen if he poked his cell phone with a sharp knife, into the battery itself. Although it is highly unlikely that our phones would ever spontaneously combust, watching what happens in this video took my breath away.
Although, with the current batteries we certainly have no reason to be concerned about flammability under normal circumstances, it might be a good thing to have a safer option to these Li-ion batteries. Something was discovered recently, by researchers who were attempting find a material to use on the bottom of ships, that would prevent marine life from attaching to the bottoms.
In their research they made an incidental finding of a way to make non-flammable Li-ion batteries. PFPE is a material that has a similar chemical structure of the electrolyte used in the current batteries. It is being tested with the hope that they will be a marketable alternative, so that the batteries in cell phones will no longer have combustable potential.
When you watch how quickly the phone blows up when prodded in this video, you may agree that it would be good to find a non-flammable alternative. It was definitely a bit scary how rapidly the phone went up in flames.

The “Thin Blue Line” is a concept that reflects a conservative point of view concerning police culture. It is reflective of the worldview held by the police, that when they put on their blue uniform, it represents law and order. That ‘thin blue line’, they say, is what stands between a society that abides by the rules, and anarchy.
The thin line has grown thinner for police across the United States as “bad cops” have gone too far over that line, committing crimes themselves in the line of duty. The majority of the police force across the country, put themselves in harms way, as they protect citizens from the mayhem that exists in a world that has grown more violent every day.
The sheer magnitude of what they face, particularly in the big cities, is overwhelming. When the few bad cops, unfortunate circumstances, or prejudice officers result in the harm or deaths of innocent citizens, that thin blue line gets thinner and thinner. These incidents in our society have been coming to the fore and have resulted in a backlash against the police.
Although some of this is warranted, it has increasingly made it more and more dangerous for good cops to do their job. One citizen, a small business owner Anthony Welichko, saw the public tide turning against the police, and he wanted to do something that would show support for the cops who do a good job, and who have become increasingly afraid for their own lives.
He began an initiative after posting a message to law enforcement on his Facebook page. He has called the movement “The Safe Harbor Initiative”. His post has been shared more than 85,000 times by folks who support what he is saying.
The following video shows him expressing his feelings about the police. He explains that when they see a thin blue line painted on a curb in front of people’s homes (part of his initiative), it is a symbol of support and gratitude for the work they do. “To all the police out there doing their jobs to keep us safe every day. We thank you.”
His heartfelt expression and explanation of his initiative should be watched in the video below. It is food for thought in a world in which too often we see things in black and white, and don’t consider the shades of gray that truly represent the work of “The Thin Blue Line”.

If you are a parent then you have changed a diaper or two, or several thousand, in your life. It’s crucial to keep newborn babies clean, dry, and smelling fresh as can be. When you go to change a diaper you never know what you’re going to get.
Sometimes the changing process flies by smoothly and there are no hiccups. Other times it can be pure torture and everything, from the smell to the mess, takes forever to muscle through and clean up. While this wasn’t dad’s first diaper change experience of the stinky sort, when the smell is that overwhelming and rank, it’s impossible for a person to ever get used to.
