Have you ever wondered why there is an extra shoelace hole at the top of your shoe? Many running and hiking shoes have the extra hole and most people don’t ever use it. Instead, they skip threading the lace through the last top hole and tie them as usual. After seeing this video you will now know why they are there and how to use them to your advantage. Now let’s really take a deep dive into this mysterious hole on everyone’s sneakers which for the most part seem to be ignored.. There comes a time in every persons life when they ponder the question, why is there an extra shoelace hole at the top of my shoe? Many running sneakers and hiking shoes have the extra hole and yet most people never use it.
Sometimes it’s located a little farther back than where many of us normally tie off our shoes. Instead of utilizing it, we skip threading the laces through the last top holes and tie them as usual. However, the seemingly useless and oddly placed holes are there for an important reason. After watching this video you’ll know exactly why shoemakers choose to include them and how to best use the feature to your advantage.
Basically the extra holes can be used to keep your foot firmly in place, rather than it sliding around which is what occurs when shoes are too loose. In turn, this can also help prevent blisters from forming on your heels and will stop your feet from cramming forwards into the front of the shoe.
When you tie laces using the “heel lock” or “lace lock” technique, as shown in the video, it creates more friction between the laces at the top of the shoe which are closest to your ankle. This serves to make and keep the heel/ankle area tight and snug in place without having to re-tighten your whole shoe. Even if you don’t have the extra shoelace hole you can still use the method on the top hole instead.

Man Renovates a Retired Airplane Into His House.

Many people want that nice colonial house, in the burbs with a well mown lawn and a perfect little white picket fence. While others prefer more; shall we see exotic shelters that are completely unique, creative and many times out of this world! I myself am somewhere in the middle, I’d like the nice comforts of a small town, or maybe even a small city, but at the same time I could see myself going off the grid living in an old in one of the houses from the tiny house movement! Anyway with all that being said, this brings us to today’s fascinating story which features a unique man named Bruce Campbell age 66, citizen of planet earth..
Bruce spent the greater portion of his life as an engineer before he retired a few years back. Ever since his retirement he’s found himself with a lot of extra time on his hands. He wasn’t sure what he was going to do after he retired but after many hours of contemplation he came up with up with an idea.
Bruce has pretty much always been obsessed with airplanes ever since he was a kid. He owned a plot of land he bought many years prior, now he just needed to find the cashflow to get an old retired plane that can’t fly anymore. He pursued his goal and ended up purchasing a Boeing 727 Jet Airplane for $100,000! Seems like a good deal? Maybe I’m not really familiar with old, none functioning plane prices…
The easy part had been accomplished. Bruce was now the proud owner of a broken down Boeing 727 that will never fly again. But now the hard part was just beginning…. Bruce had to somehow get the plane from the place he bought it from and transfer it 1000’s of miles into the lush forests of Oregon.
Somehow Bruce figured out how he was going to transport the big plane. The only problem was, this transportation job was going to end up being more expensive than the 727 itself! At this point he was so zoned in on his goal of having his airplane dream house in the middle of the forest was happening no matter what the cost! For those of you interested the transport alone was $120,000!
So now he found himself with an empty plane in the middle of the woods and he was already $220,000 deep into this once in a lifetime project. He initially thought he could get it done from start to finish in a year…. However he completely underestimated the complexity of this job. It took him years of planning, he was going to make sure everything was perfect…

It is wonderful to have our homes smell good, and scented candles became very popular over the last decade. That is, until it was discovered that many of these candles and scented sprays contain really dangerous chemicals, that can cause permanent lung damage.
I, myself, have stopped using those candles that I used to love, because of the inherent health hazard they carry. I’m always looking for natural alternatives that are chemical free, to provide a nice fresh smell in my home. When I came upon this DIY video for creating a natural air freshener I was intrigued.
The video below is a great tutorial for how to easily, inexpensively and quickly make your own fresh and chemical-free deodorizer. Two alternative versions are demonstrated, which differ slightly in how they release the fragrance.
For both versions, all you will need are: a MASON JAR WITH A TIN LID, HAMMER, FORK, EMPTY CANDLE CONTAINER, SCREWDRIVER, BAKING SODA AND SOME ESSENTIAL OIL. The DIY is easy to follow, and gives you a great means to slow-release a pleasant scent into any room in your home.

It can even be used to straighten clothes if an iron isn’t available. Many people struggle to remove these stains and often think that they need strong, harsh chemical cleaners to get rid of them effectively. However, there’s a better and more affordable way to go about cleaning a shower head with crusted on mineral build up. All you need is apple cider vinegar, a Ziploc bag, and a rubber band.

Obviously they were not going to go near a live nest, so they ordered one that was no longer inhabited, from eBay. I find it so admirable that Dan has been sharing his curiosity with Lincoln, in exploring such fascinating things, by doing these in home science projects.
There is nothing better that a parent can model and offer a child, than the fostering of intrinsic curiosity about the world in general, and more specifically in the workings of nature. After unpacking the wasp’s nest, you will see Dan begin the process of cutting open the nest, as Lincoln and his friend seem to be having a mixture of anticipatory excitement and a bit of squeamish fear.
I myself, watched with baited breath, as the cutting open of the nest proceeded. I have to admit I was pretty nervous there could be some hidden wasps inside! Lincoln is a little bit afraid that there still might be a live hornet inside, despite the fact that they have been assured there is not.
When the cutting process is finished their gasps of amazement at the intricacy of the internal structure, matched my own. Nature is just so fascinating, and the building capacity of the insect kingdom, is truly mind-boggling to view. Get ready for some really amazing footage!

This rubbing alcohol spray is the perfect thing to have on hand for freezing cold mornings and icy windshields. You can leave the bottle in your car and it won’t even freeze, unless it gets well under zero. That’s because the freezing point of isopropyl alcohol is -128.2 degrees Fahrenheit, so when you spray it on the ice, it doesn’t freeze up. Instead, it helps to melt the ice and keeps it from re-freezing. Since all you have to do is mist it on, it’s by far the quickest and easiest way to clear a windshield that’s coated with a thick layer of ice.

Human Tells Giant Great Dane He Can’t Go Swimming. He Responds With The Most Hysterical Hissy Fit.

Great Danes may look impressively large and imposing, but they’re really just big babies at heart! They are all around friendly, intelligent, sweet-tempered, social, and even natured animals that absolutely love to be pampered and pet. That’s the reason why they are often called the ‘Gentle Giants’ of the dog world! It’s a nickname they’ve earned and once you see how Max the Great Dane reacts to some disappointing news, you’ll understand why….
Max was all ready and set to go swimming in his beautiful backyard pool when his mom suddenly told him that he couldn’t go for a dip. Since he had been looking forward to a relaxing swim all day long, he did not take the sudden change of events lightly.
Rather than remain calm, Max immediately launched into a noisy temper tantrum and let his unhappy feelings be known to anyone in the vicinity. This big boy wants to swim and he wants everyone to know! The fact that Max is deaf never stops him from arguing with his owners.
He whined and protested the pool ban aggressively, answering and challenging his mom every step of the way. The way he talks back, you’d think he could hear every word she said! He’s like a 160 pound toddler who just needs to get his way! Max is one of my favorite dogs on the inter webs. I really would love to see him just jump in, but he is such a good boy!
The big gentle six year old boy certainly has it made and life is good for him. According to his Facebook bio page he lives in a beautiful house alongside his sister Katie, who also happens to be a Great Dane, his mom and dad, and several kitty cats. Mom Puts a Tape Recorder In Her Kid’s Backpack.

Mothers are fiercely protective of their children and only want the best for their little ones. They share a deep bond with their kids and many have described it as intrinsic, in that they are connected on another level and can feel what their babies are going through and experiencing. It’s hard to describe but the mother-child connection is inseparable and natural, if they must, they won’t hesitate to fight tooth and nail for their kids.
One such mother is Melissa Davis from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She has two sons and one of them, 12 year old Camden, has special needs. He had been attending the Greater Baton Rouge Hope Academy for a few months when she noticed a change in his attitude. He seemed off in that he was more anxious and aggressive than usual. He had even started wetting the bed again, which was something he stopped doing at 3 years old. When she asked him about what was wrong he wouldn’t tell her, but she could sense something was off and so she decided to do some investigating of her own.
She first tried going to the school and asking questions, simple ones like where Camden’s assigned seat was located, but she couldn’t get any straight answers. School officials, including the principal and her son’s teachers, were less than accommodating and their odd reaction to her basic inquiry left her confused. Seeing no other real options, Melissa decided to place a recording device in her son’s backpack in the hopes of gaining insight as to what was going on at the school. When he returned home she retrieved the tape and played it back.
It started off normal but quickly took a drastic turn for the worse. She could hear Camden’s teacher yelling at him because he hadn’t completed a writing assignment and when he attempted to talk the teacher mocked him. As a child with special needs, Camden reacts differently to this sort of discipline. Angry yelling and mocking are simply not acceptable behaviors on the part of a teacher. Melissa was incensed but the tapes just got worse.
At one point the teacher and her assistant were heard making derogatory remarks about her son. They were using foul language and cursing, and while Camden did not seem to be in the room at the time, it nevertheless crossed the line. Horrified at what she had heard on the tapes and armed with proof she went to speak with school officials once again. Just as they had before they dismissed her concerns so she did the only real thing she could and pulled her son out of the school immediately. However, she was not about to give up that easily.
Concerned for the other students with special needs at the school, she decided to share the audio recordings publicly on Facebook to draw awareness to the problem. They ended up going viral and finally the school was forced to take action. The principal released a statement saying that the teacher involved had been fired and the other one would be dismissed at the end of the semester as well. The principal then invited Melissa to speak with her and other school officials about the matter, but this was too little too late.
Melissa had hired an attorney and threatened to file a lawsuit against the Department of Education. In response, the school immediately fired the other teacher involved and with that Melissa felt justice had been done. Moreover, Camden is finally getting the education he deserves. He ended up going to a new school where the teachers are better trained and equipped to deal with special needs students.

I, myself, have stopped using those candles that I used to love, because of the inherent health hazard they carry. I’m always looking for natural alternatives that are chemical free, to provide a nice fresh smell in my home. When I came upon this DIY video for creating a natural air freshener I was intrigued.
The video below is a great tutorial for how to easily, inexpensively and quickly make your own fresh and chemical-free deodorizer. Two alternative versions are demonstrated, which differ slightly in how they release the fragrance.
For both versions, all you will need are: a MASON JAR WITH A TIN LID, HAMMER, FORK, EMPTY CANDLE CONTAINER, SCREWDRIVER, BAKING SODA AND SOME ESSENTIAL OIL. The DIY is easy to follow, and gives you a great means to slow-release a pleasant scent into any room in your home.

It can even be used to straighten clothes if an iron isn’t available. The biggest downside to it is the crusty, whitish colored mineral deposits and stubborn stains it leaves behind. Over time these gradually build up on stuff, especially faucets and shower heads.
Many people struggle to remove these stains and often think that they need strong, harsh chemical cleaners to get rid of them effectively. However, there’s a better and more affordable way to go about cleaning a shower head with crusted on mineral build up. All you need is apple cider vinegar, a Ziploc bag, and a rubber band.
Simply pour some apple cider vinegar into the plastic bag and place it over and on the shower head. Use a rubber band to secure it in place and then leave it on overnight. Remove the baggy the following day, wipe the shower head clean, and it should be restored to its former glory!
