A Huge Storm Took Down THIS Giant Tree. Then Scientists Uncover an UNTHINKABLE Surprise Under It!

There are quite a few famous trees located throughout the world. Some are known for their size, like General Sherman, the world’s largest tree located in California’s Sequoia National Park, while others are famous from folklore, like The Major Oak in Sherwood Forest, England where Robin Hood is rumored to have slept.
In Northern Ireland, the most well-known trees are a group of Beech trees called the Dark Hedges. They line both sides of a rural road with their branches intertwined above it to form a dramatic, picturesque tunnel that has become famous from being featured in movies and shows. Most recently, they were the backdrop for the King’s Road in HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones, lending a dark, eerily beautiful atmosphere for several scenes.
Whereas the Dark Hedges are the most known group of Beech trees, a lone one located in Collooney, a small town on the northwest coast of Ireland, gained worldwide attention after it was knocked over in a storm. Back in 2015 severe storms whipped the island and proved too much for the huge tree which toppled over and lay with its root system exposed. Months later someone took a closer look at it and noticed something shocking tangled up in all the dirt and roots.
What they found appeared to be a human skeleton and so archeologists from the Sligo-Leitrim Archaeological Services (SLAS) were called in to examine it. They determined that it was indeed a human and the skeleton had been split in half when the tree was uprooted.
The lower body was found still in the ground, while the skull, arm, and torso were caught up in the tree roots. After carefully removing the bones and looking them over it was determined that they were from a male between the ages of 17 and 20 years old, and so now the question was when did he die?
To figure that out carbon dating was used and when scientists got the results they were stunned. It turned out that the bones dated back over 1,000 years ago to sometime between 1030-1200 CE! Further analysis revealed the man was approximately 5’10”, quite tall for that time period.
He also likely had a very physical job since his bone joints showed major signs of wear. However, the most shocking finding of all was that the man had not died of natural causes, instead he was probably murdered.
Slash marks on his ribs and hands that appeared to be caused by a knife indicated that he’d been mortally wounded while trying to escape his killer. Since he lived in medieval Europe, it was presumed he either died in combat or after getting into a skirmish with someone off the battlefield. Based on how the man was placed in the grave, in an east-west position with his hands folded over his front, it appeared that he was given a proper Christian burial as was done in those times.
Even though the Beech tree had been planted right above the man’s final resting place, whoever put it there had no idea of his presence. The tree itself had been planted in the early 1800s and years later its roots eventually reached the skeleton.
Records indicate that the area used to once have a church and cemetery around the time the man lived, so there may be more graves beside his near the site. After being studied, the bones were sent to the National Museum of Ireland in Dublin where they remain to this day.

A Huge Storm Took Down This Tree. He Cuts Into It But Seconds Later The Unthinkable Occurs!
We’ve all had to deal with down trees, whether they are on the road and we can’t get past, or in our backyard. Removing trees can be quite an ordeal and should only be done by trained professionals. In the following clip, it looks like a tree has toppled over in a backyard, destroyed a trampoline, and left a huge clean up job!
The guy in this video seems like he is skilled with a chainsaw. He seemed to be doing a great job at clearing the fallen tree. Until he forgot about the laws of physics. Because he removed all the branches, the tree trunk is not heavy enough to balance against the mass of the root.
Suddenly something unexpected occurs, the magic tree comes back to life and everyone gets a good laugh out of it. Luckily nobody was injured. This could’ve potentially been a very dangerous situation.
If you do need to clear a tree from your property, make sure you know what you are doing. If not call a professional just to be on the safe side. Enjoy the following clip of this magic tree!

Loggers Chop Down This Really Old Tree. But Were Completely Stunned By What They Found Inside The Trunk!
image via – youtube.com
People have been logging the forests ever since they stopped being nomadic and settled down in one area. In America, as soon as the settlers arrived in Jamestown, Virginia they set to work falling trees to make shelters and protect them from the elements.
Over the years the industry has changed drastically to fit people’s needs. Nowadays logging is primarily done for lumber and producing paper pulp to make into a variety of paper products. That was what a team from Georgia Craft Company were out logging for one day back in 1980 in a forest near Jasper, Georgia. They were cutting down American Chestnut trees when they noticed that the first one they stuck their axe into was hollow. While unusual, it wasn’t a big deal, so they forged ahead and cut it down because it was still useable and valuable.
Once the tree was felled, they began cutting it up into smaller pieces that would fit on the back of the logging truck. However, before they started sawing it down to size, they realized that something was stuck up inside the tree trunk. When they looked down it there was no light passing through.
Curious, the loggers moved in to take a closer look and what met their gaze was shocking. The angry looking face of a snarling animal with sharp teeth peered out, causing them to immediately jump back and away from the tree. They couldn’t believe their eyes; they were looking at what seemed to be a very odd looking sort of dog. It appeared frozen in time and the loggers just knew they’d stumbled upon something strange. Not knowing quite what to do with it, they set it aside and got back to work.
About a year later the hollow Chestnut tree ended up at Southern Forest Word, a new museum dedicated to forestry that was about to open to the public. Staff at the museum knew the strange discovery would be a huge draw and wanted to know everything about the story behind the dog in the tree.
The dog appeared to have been naturally mummified and Kristina Killgrove, a biological anthropologist from the University of West Florida, came up with an explanation for how this likely happened. Part of her studies involve how tissue decays and the microbes involved in the process of breaking it all down. Because Chestnut trees have tannin, which makes them rot resistant, they absorb moisture.
That property is what prevented microbes from beginning the decaying process so the dog didn’t break down and instead became mummified. Another major contributing factor was that the tree trunk blocked other animals from both smelling and reaching the dog. Since it was hollow, any scent the dog gave off would have travelled up the tree like smoke where it’d be blown away by the wind.
The biggest question yet remained, how the dog ended up in the tree trunk in the first place. Since it appears to have been a 4 year old hunting dog, experts theorized that it likely chased an animal, such as a raccoon or squirrel, into the tree sometime around 1960. After somehow managing to climb up about 28 feet the dog then got stuck and after that it probably starved to death.
The dog in the tree has always been the main attraction at the forestry museum, people are fascinated by the story. For years it was simply given the name “mummified dog” but in 2002 the forestry museum held a naming contest for it. They ended up choosing the name “Stuckie” in homage to the poor hound’s sad fate.

This Man Attempts To Pull A Tree Out Of The Ground With His Truck. At :24 I Can’t Stop Laughing!
image via – youtube.com
Yard work can be a real pain in the behind and it takes a lot of sweat and muscles to pull off some of the grittier jobs, like removing stumps, large rocks, and trees. Lots of people hire outside contractors and landscapers to keep their property safe and looking good, but many choose to do it themselves.
For some it’s a matter of pride, others a lack of money, and whatever it is we all have our reasons. Besides, much of the work is general upkeep that involves mowing the lawn or raking leaves. These days if something calls for a special tool or machine, they’re readily available for rent at most home improvement stores. Many of those gadgets make yard work much easier, quicker, and less taxing.
Plus, you can always improvise and rig up something on the spot to help get a job done. One man did just that when he went to remove a tree in his yard. Instead of hiring a professional or breaking out a chainsaw, he simply backed his Dodge pickup truck up to the tree. After securing some heavy duty ropes around the tree, and to his truck, he hopped in the cab and fired up the engine.
Once he got the word that the area was clear of all children and bystanders he slowly began to inch the powerful truck forward until the slack picked up on the line. Seconds later, something completely unexpected and hilarious happens. If we tell you what ensued we’d ruin the video and do you a disservice, so check it out and see for yourself whether or not he safely got the tree down!
