Terrified Orca Was Stranded and Desperately Crying For Help. But Then The UNTHINKABLE Occurs!

image via – youtube.com

Killer whales are among the most powerful and deadly predators in the world. Few animals come close to matching their accuracy or killer instinct when hunting for food. Even a great white shark is no match for a killer whale. However, the one thing that can and will stop them is dry land. Their immense strength is rendered useless when they become beached or stranded on rocks, like the poor young orca in this video.

The female whale was left high and dry off the coast of British Columbia when an attempt to catch some tasty fish suddenly took a turn for the worse. As the tide went out in Hartley Bay she ended up stuck in a shallow pool atop a rock outcropping. It wasn’t very long before her entire body was completely out of the water and fully exposed to the elements. She couldn’t have picked a worse time to become trapped weather-wise, it was late July and the summer sun was beating down on her black skin, drying it out and sapping her energy. Without human intervention the killer whale would likely die before the tide returned.

Thankfully a man spotted her and immediately called for help. Local volunteers from the animal rescue group Gitga’at Guardians of Hartley Bay converged on the scene along with others from Cetacea Lab and the For Whales Organization. They had to find a way to keep the young killer whale as wet and cool as possible until the tide returned.

The group covered her body with ocean soaked sheets and capped her dorsal fin with a pillow case. They rigged up a water pump and hosed her down continuously throughout the day. All the while they worked as smooth and silently as they could, in order to help keep the whale calm and relaxed.

Even though she was only nine years old and relatively small, weighing in at an estimated 7,000 pounds, it was no small task keeping her wet, calm and cool for a continuous eight hours. If she freaked out she could have easily over exerted herself and suffocated to death.

A whale’s lungs are mainly supported by water and so when they’re not in the water it becomes very difficult to breathe because their immense size places a lot of pressure on the lungs. Every breathe she took was difficult but at some point during the rescue her breathing steadied and she’d finally relaxed.

When the tide finally came in and submerged her the rescuers quietly left and headed for higher ground. They wanted her to decide on the right moment to leave, it was the safest way for everyone involved, especially the whale. The young orca seemed to know freedom was close as she grew more and more vocal and patiently waited for the right moment to make a break.

Finally the water level was high enough and she shot off the rocks into the open water. The whale was free at last as she went swimming off into the distance to find her family. All the rescuers looking on whooped and shouted cries of relief, their efforts and hard work had paid off. They all have one incredible whale of a tale to tell now and it’s the best kind, one with a happy ending.

He Rescued Kittens On The Side Of The Road. But He Had No Idea They Would Become THIS!

image via – youtube.com

Coming face to face with a wild cat is a breathtakingly rare occurrence. The larger, undomesticated animals are usually quiet, shy, and elusive, choosing to stay out of sight and away from humans and even other cats. At least that is true of full grown, adult cats who roam large territories hunting in search for food.

Young baby kittens, not so much, they’re more inquisitive and less afraid of people and other animals. Everything is new to them and that’s why they need their mother to watch over and keep them safe from harm. So when 18 year old Hamdan Shibli, from Israel, was walking to work and stumbled upon three tiny kittens, he was quite surprised and concerned.

The kittens were just sitting in plain sight on the side of the dirt road he walked down every day. There was no mother in sight and they looked weak and in need of help. Thinking that their mother might be around and come back for them, Hamdan moved them away from the road and placed them under a bush so they’d be out of plain sight. He took a few pictures, then continued on his way to work.

Later on, when he was looking at those pictures, he suddenly realized that the kittens he saw were not your average domestic cats. Instead they were actually Jungle cats! Jungle cats are similar in size and appearance to the lynx, but they live in Southeast Asia, India, parts of southern China, and in pockets throughout the middle east and the Nile Valley.

Even though they are not on the threatened or endangered species lists, their numbers are dropping quickly due to many factors including loss of habitat and hunting. When they are young, they look just like domestic kittens at first glance, so it’s easy to overlook them like Hamdan did.

He rushed back to the spot he placed them and thankfully they were still there. Once again there was no mother in sight and they looked just as weak and vulnerable as before. He scooped all three into a basket and took them straight to a veterinarian who specialized in wild animals to get them checked out.

Unfortunately, one of the kittens passed away but the other two were treated. The vet removed all of the ticks that covered their tiny bodies and nursed them back to health with special formula and round the clock care.

It was determined that the poor little kitties were no older that 5 weeks old and extremely dehydrated and weak. The vet put a plan in action to get their weight up and then get them eating solid food, before finally releasing them back into the wild once they were strong and healthy enough.

Thanks to Hamdan’s quick thinking and desire to help another animal in need, the two surviving Jungle cats have a second chance to live a normal life, free in the wild, as nature intended. What a wonderful and inspiring rescue story, I wish all could end so well.

They Thought They Rescued A Puppy In The Woods But It Turned Out Not Even Being A Dog! I’m Speechless!

image via – youtube.com

When a family came across a hurt and abandoned baby animal in the Marsh Lake woods of Whitehorse, Canada they assumed it was a puppy. The tiny ball of fur certainly looked just like a weeks, or even days, old dog as its eyes were yet to even open.

Ralph Shopland, the father of the family who found the little guy told CBC News “I just defaulted to thinking it was a dog.” After posting notices on Facebook, asking for help and a wet nurse, the baby was placed with a surrogate dog who nursed and cared for it!

Soon it became clear this baby was no puppy. Guesses as to what he could be ranged from otter to wolverine and soon the answer appeared. The baby’s face changed, his ears stood up, a white tip appeared on his tail, and he became very smelly.

He was so stinky that staff even had to change his blanket every 3 hours to minimize it. All this evidence pointed to the fact that he is a red fox! The Yukon Wildlife Preserve ended up taking in the tiny kit, nursed him to health, and gave him a place to live.

Since he had been partly raised and imprinted on by humans, it is in his best interest to stay there. The staff try to spend as little amount of time possible with him in order to minimize his comfort level around, and dependence on, humans.

Initially, they did not have the proper habitat for a fox cub but were able to build him one after raising enough money. Today he is full grown and lives in the new habitat, but he is all alone. The word has been put out to zoos and the like that the Yukon Wildlife Preserve is looking for a friend to keep the fox company.

Hopefully they will get a response and the fox can soon play with and share his home with a new friend. Share this story and video to help spread the word and find the fox a companion all the sooner!

This Guy Spots A Strange Newborn Baby Deer Laying In The Road But Then He Notices THIS..

image via – youtube.com

When I first began watching the video you are about to see below, it looked as if Steve Knoop and his friends had come upon a fawn that had been hit by a vehicle.  It was lying in the middle of the road on pavement, with it’s legs in a position that made it appear to be hurt.

Luckily these men saw it as they were driving along, and didn’t run over the baby.  They approached the fawn with caution to see  exactly what it’s condition was.  In the video you hear these concerned men discuss what they observe to be a newborn baby deer whose mother seems to have given birth in the middle of the road.

As they get closer they see that he is not injured and that his mother is watching the scene from the woods at the side of the road.  Unsure of whether they should move him or not they discuss the alternative. They quickly decide that leaving him there would endanger his life, which leads Paul to very gently lift him from the middle of the road and quickly deposit the baby near the side of the woods.

What happens next sends the men into shouts of jubilation! Watch The Video Below and Enjoy!

An Elephant Notices His Human Fall On His Face In Pain. How She Reacts The UNTHINKABLE!

image via – youtube.com

Elephants are among the most intelligent species of animals that walk the Earth’s surface. They are highly complex and extremely social mammals who live in caring, tight knit family groups. Many people know that an elephant never forgets, thanks to their incredible memories, but they are capable of so much more.

They cry, play, laugh, are self-aware, and express grief and compassion. When another elephant in the group passes away they all mourn the loss. They have also been observed grieving when a close human friend or caretaker dies, as was the case when Laurence Anthony passed in 2012.

Anthony was known as the “elephant whisperer” for his amazing ability at calming and reforming violent, traumatized elephants who were seen as pests in South Africa. By taking an interest in, and living among them while rehabilitating, the out of control animals, he saved their lives from certain death.

Shortly after he died, two separate and distinct herds of elephants made a miles long, 12 hour, non-stop journey to his home. They showed up and stayed for two days to pay their final respects to the man who had loved and saved them before heading back into the bush. Somehow, in their hearts or minds, they had sensed the loss of friend and wanted to say goodbye to him.

The strong emotional and unspoken bond that can develop between elephant and man can further be seen in this video. In it is an elephant named Thongsri who lives in Thailand with her human caretaker. She clearly cares a lot for her friend and when she noticed that he was being attacked by another man she rushed over to defend him.

It doesn’t matter whether or not her caretaker and the other man were play fighting, all she saw was that someone was potentially hurting her friend. The other man ran off as soon as he saw Thongsri coming at him. Then she flared her ears aggressively and stood guard over the caretaker while he crawled around on the ground.

No one in their right mind would continue to try and harm her friend, they’d likely get trampled in a second if they did! It’s just further proof of what amazing, sensitive, and special animals elephants are.

Baby Elephant Is Trapped And Begging Mom For Help. But Wait Til’ You See Who Actually Rescues Him!

image via – youtube.com

Get ready to watch one of the sweetest, most precious moments captured on video.  A herd of elephants were trekking along when a little baby elephant gets stuck in a muddy waterhole.  Some people who were on a Wild Wings Safari, came upon the scene, while sightseeing.

This tiny little elephant is trying to pull himself out of the mud hole, but his little legs aren’t long enough and he doesn’t have the strength to get out on his own.  The mother elephant is trying to figure out how to help him by using her trunk.  She can’t seem to get a grip, so she gets into the hole for better leverage.  Still no luck!!  It’s just too slippery.

Then the baby cleverly walks over to a slightly drier edge of the waterhole, tries doing it himself again, but he still needs mama’s help.  She then gets another adult to lend his trunk to oust the youngster.  Finally SUCCESS!!  Such great problem solving for mom and babe alike!  Watch what happens after he gets out, still wobbly on those adorable little legs.

Enjoy this amazing footage! Let us know what you think!
