He Places Chocolate Chips Inside THIS Crock Pot. When He’s Done I Can’t Stop Drooling!

I don’t know about you, but for me there is nothing better than a simple recipe that isn’t labor intensive, which results in a delicious dessert.  The Cooking With Jack Show, aka The Lazy Man’s recipes, offers just such a trick, for a really decadent dessert often served in fancy restaurants!

The video you are about to watch is perfect for chocolate lovers.  If you have ever tasted a mouth-watering lava cake, you understand how amazing it would be to concoct this at home.  Something definitely brain-altering occurs when you taste a great lava cake.  I was once at a party where one such dessert was served, and as the first tastes were taken the whole group fell silent, and then all you heard was the buzz of yummmmmm!

Jovial Jack, our lazy chef, demonstrates how to produce this in a slow cooker.  In fact, he’s so lazy that he shows us how to line the cooker so no clean-up is necessary!  Ingredients required are: Devil’s food cake mix, water, eggs, canola oil, 2% milk, chocolate pudding mix and semisweet chocolate chips.

After 5-7 minutes of mixing, everything gets poured into the slow cooker, while Jack takes a nap for 3 hours!  The results look sumptuous.  I can’t wait to try this as a confirmed lava cake lover.  Let us know how your’s turns out if you give it a try.  Don’t miss the last minute of bloopers on the video!

She Starts Cutting a Pie Crust Using a Pizza Slicer. But When She’s Done YUM!

Apple pie fries are a fun and delicious take on dessert that everyone will love to chow down on. The ‘fusion’ food blends together the shape of fried potato sticks and their finger-food friendly functionality with the sweet, yummy taste of all-American apple pie. The pie fries are topped with salt, aka sparkling sugar, and served with a side of ketchup, aka warm gooey caramel sauce!

Even if you’re not a baker you can manage to pull this recipe off, it’s quick, easy, and much more convenient than making a traditional apple pie from scratch. They will make your house smell amazing and come out the oven all crispy, warm, crunchy, and sugary sweet. Is your mouth watering yet?!
Here’s what you need and how to make them:

Ingredients:

1 can of apple pie filling – 2 pie crusts (Pillsbury were used in the video) – 1 egg (for egg wash) – ¼ cup sugar – 1 teaspoon cinnamon – ¼ teaspoon of nutmeg – sparkling sugar (coarse, large grained sugar)

Directions:

Set the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. While that’s heating up, place the can of apple pie filling in a food processor and pulse or blend it until smooth or the chunks are tiny. Lightly dust a flat surface with flour and lay out one of the pie crusts. Evenly spread the apple pie filling over the entire crust and then place the remaining pie crust right on top of it.

Use a pizza cutter to slice a series of vertical lines down the crust, then run a few horizontal cuts across it to make fry shapes. Refer to the video for a better idea on how to space the lines and exactly how large to make the fries. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper and use a spatula to transfer the fries onto it.

In a bowl mix together ¼ cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and ¼ teaspoon of nutmeg. Make an egg wash by mixing one egg with a dash of water, brush it over the fries, and then sprinkle the sugar mixture over them. Lightly sprinkle them with a little bit of sparkling sugar before baking for 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove and allow them to cool before serving.

These taste great on their own but are definitely kicked up a notch when served with whipped cream, caramel, chopped nuts, or whatever toppings and dipping sauces you like!

He Starts Rubbing A Raw Tomato Against a Cheese Grater. But The Reason Is Unexpectedly GENIUS!

image via – facebook.com

I consider myself a “foodie” and what makes a dish outstandingly delicious for me, is when the taste is truly FRESH.  I enjoy preparing food for myself and my family, but I don’t want to spend  hours cooking…it just leaves me exhausted and without an appetite.

Most people enjoy a simple pasta and tomato sauce, and have great memories (if you are Italian) of Grandma’s Sunday dinners. They always included a marinara sauce (for the pasta) that had to be stirred and simmered for hours to reach the peak of perfection.

I am always looking online for simple recipes that use really fresh ingredients, and can be completed quickly.  When I came across the video that you are about to watch below, Food & Wine’s Justin Chapple astounded me, with a way to make a fantastically fresh, delicious tomato sauce that requires NO COOKING!

All you need is a box grater and ripe, good quality tomatoes. The bonus is that the grater actually saves you from having to peel the tomato.  Watch Justin, add a few ingredients to enhance the taste and consistency, and then pour it on the cooked pasta.

When I watched his preparation, which he does with such simple pleasure that exudes his love of fresh food, I was inspired.  I made it last night for my husband and kids and all I could hear was a resounding Yummmmm!

Let us know how yours turns out! Bon appetite! 🙂

Slow cookers make preparing delicious, home cooked meals so easy they’re practically effortless! Instead of having to bang around the kitchen making all of the separate components that most dishes call for, you just mix up a few basic ingredients and then combine them all together in the pot. Set the timer, put the lid on, and you’re good to go!

While many traditional recipes have been pared down and honed specifically for crock pot cooking, this easy meatloaf one retains all of its classic ingredients. Make this soon and you won’t be disappointed! The sweet, savory aroma will greet you when you walk in the door and dinner will be ready, warm, and waiting. What more could you ask for? Everything you’ll need is listed below and directions on how to prepare the slow cooked meatloaf follow:

5 potatoes2 pounds of ground beef½ pound hot Italian turkey sausage with casings removed1 large onion2 eggs1 ½ cup ketchup, divided in half (so that you have two ¾ cups of it)¾ cup crushed crackers, butter-flavored, 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar, 2 teaspoons salt½ teaspoon yellow mustardblack pepper, to taste

Start by peeling the potatoes. Cut them into 2-inch chunks and place them in the bottom of a large crock pot. Make sure to combine the ingredients together really well and then form them into the shape of a loaf. Add the loaf to the slow cooker, placing them directly on top of the potatoes!

Now combine and stir up the brown sugar, mustard, and remaining ¾ cup of ketchup. Spread the resulting sauce evenly across the top of the meat loaf before placing the lid on the slow cooker. Cook on the low setting for 6-10 hours, the time may vary depending on your crock pot. When the time is up simply drain any excess liquid from the pot and then serve!

At First I Laughed When She Put Orange Peels In The Fridge But When She’s Done YUM!

The world is full of fast food options and temptingly convenient prepackaged snacks which make it difficult to find and choose healthy foods. It is even harder when you need to come up with a tasty snack that will please a whole classroom full of youngsters. On top of that, many schools now strictly enforce no-nut and no-candy or junk food policies that aim to keep kids healthy and safe from potential allergic reactions. When one woman was asked to bring in a homemade snack for her daughter’s class that fit within the guidelines she came up with the perfect recipe. It is simple, easy to make, delicious, and above all healthy.

All you need for ingredients are six oranges and one packet of unflavored gelatin. In the video the chef, Meg, uses valencia and navel oranges for juice and then the navel orange peels she saves for a later step. Start by slicing the oranges in half crosswise and then juice them until you have one and three quarters cups of juice. Next, pour the juice through a fine mesh strainer to remove the pulp.

Place the gelatin in a saucepan and pour about one quarter cup of juice over it, let this stand and dissolve, before placing the saucepan over medium heat for approximately 5 minutes or until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Mix in the remaining juice and set aside. Take the orange halves and remove the remaining inside flesh with a spoon. Place them in a muffin tin so that they stand up and fill them halfway with juice, place the tray in the refrigerator, before finally filling them up. It is best to refrigerate them overnight or at least four hours before slicing them into wedges and serving.

Kids and adults will love this snack and many children who don’t even like fruit will be tricked into eating it because its presented to them as a treat. There are no added sugars and its even fun to make. Get the kids involved by having them help you juice the oranges and strain out the pulp. If you ever need to bring an item to a potluck, picnic, baby or wedding shower, or really any type of party, they magically fit the bill for all occasions!! Even if you have no where to go make them for yourself as a guilt-free treat. Plus, eating them will make it feel like summer has finally arrived.

This Woman Places 4 Pounds of Onions In a Crock Pot Then Adds Butter. When She’s Done YUM!

There’s a million different ways to eat an onion, from raw to sauteed or fried. However, one of the most popular and tastiest types is hands down caramelized onions. When onions are caramelized they become tender and brown up. They also take on a deliciously smooth flavor that’s sweet, but not too sweet that it’s overpowering, and lose the bitter taste that they’re commonly associated with.

Caramelizing is a cooking method in which a food is slowly cooked over low heat to allow for the natural sugars in it to change and turn into caramel. These properties are what makes this onion recipe the perfect thing to toss in the crock pot and cook up. It’s the easiest way to make a huge batch of caramelized onions that are both affordable and delicious.

The video shows everything you’ll need to know about perfecting this recipe and the following is a list of all the ingredients that it calls for:

4 pounds of yellow onions
½ cup unsalted butter
Salt and pepper

How to prepare the ingredients:
1) Slice up all the onions and cut the butter into small pieces 2) Place the onions and the butter in a crock pot and place the lid on the pot 3) Cook on low for 8 hours 4) Uncover, stir, and season them with salt and pepper 5) Cook on low for about 2 more hours or until most of the juice cooks off

When you’re done cooking you can either eat and enjoy the onions immediately or store them in the freezer for later. It’s likely you’ll end up with a lot of leftovers and if you choose to freeze them they last up to six months in the freezer.

These pair well with a range of other foods and meals. A classic American tradition is topping off hamburgers and hot dogs with them and many people also like them served with steak. Another option is to toss a bunch of the sweet and savory onions into a stir fry to kick the flavor level up a notch. There you have it, now you won’t ever have to go without caramelized onions ever again!
