Have you ever found something randomly that was super expensive? Did you try seeking out and finding the owner or did you just keep it? If you kept it did you try to sell it and were you lucky enough to find a buyer? These are all questions a person must ask themselves when they accidentally discover something of value and there isn’t anybody out there claiming it. Once you do make a decision about your what your are going to do with your big find there is usually a few more steps you will have to take.

Getting it appraised, finding a buyer and making sure you aren’t getting ripped off on your sale by a clever buyer. In today’s story we will be covering an amazing tale of a discovery so big it would forever change the lives of the man who found it and his family. This incredible find took place at the Carnaiba Mine in Bahia, Brazil. A man who has decided to remain anonymous due to threats to his life and safety of his family.

This guy who would preferred to be known only ‘FG’ was working for the The Bahia Mineral Cooperative which is essentially a crew of miners who are given the legal go ahead to mine specified areas of the region. When they went out to this area to mine none of them could ever imagine in their wildest dreams would they would soon accidentally uncover.

‘FG’ was wondering through the area when something caught his eye. He just had a feeling in his gut something special was very nearby. That’s when he found a giant emerald he would later find out would be 800 pounds, over 4 feet in height and worth over a whopping 300 million dollars!

‘FG’ knew that it would physically be impossible for him to excavate the giant emerald on his own and got a crew of 10 men to help him get this extremely expensive jewel out of the ground. He decided he would pay each worker a huge sum of money for the job, but at the end of the day he would be the one and only owner of this 800 pound emerald!

Besides for the near impossible unearthing then excavation  and then transfer of the emerald ‘FG’ had another huge obstacle he would face head on. In the local area of Bahia, Brazil if word got out that he was the guy who found the unspeakably large emerald, the safety of him and his family would be in serious jeopardy.

He anticipated this even before the emerald was taken out of the ground and got an obscene amount of security to protect him. He also has gone through great lengths to make sure nobody finds out his true identity so nobody would come looking for him.

He explained that he’s already had a large amount of offers to take the emerald off his hands for 100’s of millions of dollars. The stunning green emerald was over 200 meters deep in the ground and took over 7 days to completely get it out of the ground.

The mega sized gem is made up of over 180,000 carats of emerald. A lot of times when valuable stones like this are discovered they will be broken down into jewelry however since this ones size is so large it most likely will remain in tact and after it is sold could potentially end up in a museum for everyone to admire it’s beauty.

If You Ever See THIS Fuzzy Creature Do NOT Touch It. The Reason Is Scary!

image via – youtube.com

The furry looking caterpillar you see in this video, that looks like a walking mini-toupee, is highly toxic. Its looks are deceiving and many people have learned that the hard, painful way. The unassuming insect appears to be harmless and its fuzzy hairs make it seem like it’d be soft to the touch. Any young child, or even an adult who didn’t know any better, likely wouldn’t hesitate to reach out and touch it!

If you ever happen to come across one of these caterpillars you should avoid them at all costs. They’re known as puss caterpillars and over time they change dramatically as they transform into adults. After they finish developing they turn into furry winged insects that are commonly known as the southern flannel moth, and sometimes they’re called puss moths.

The bugs only pose a threat to humans when they are in their caterpillar form and contact with them should be avoided if possible. However, it’s their soft and fuzzy appearance that’s highly deceiving and the hair-like spikes draw children to them and encourage kids to reach out and pick them up.

Leslie Howe, a mother of three from Georgia, captured video of the furry caterpillar in action at a local playground she brought her kids to. The older two were off playing while she sat with her infant son, when suddenly she spotted one crawling nearby.

Intrigued by the sight of it, she whipped out her cell phone and recorded it so she could look it up later. When she found out that the hairy bug was highly venomous she was shocked, and happy that none of her kids touched it or were hurt.

The caterpillars can also come into contact with skin when they fall out of trees or somehow land on people from above. They favor citrus, sycamore, oak and elm trees, as well as plants like roses and ivy. The puss caterpillars are found in southern parts of the United States and throughout Mexico and Central America.

Up until recently they’ve gone largely unnoticed, but now the caterpillars are in the news because of increased reports of them injuring kids and causing extremely painful reactions. What makes them so fearsome and nasty is exactly what makes them so cute; their fuzzy exteriors.

The furs are actually venomous spines which cause excruciating pain when they come into contact with people’s skin. Reactions to the stings can be severe, with radiating pain, burning, nausea, vomiting, swelling, rashes, blisters, and numbness in the affected area.

Sometimes people develop chest pains or have difficulty breathing, and hives or welts may turn up on the sting site. The sting feels worse than any comparable type, beating bees, scorpions, jellyfish, and wasps. Some people have even started to convulse and reported that their pain went deep, causing even their bones hurt.

To lessen your chances of running into one of these bugs and to avoid any pain, stay vigilant and be mindful of the tiny creatures. Make sure that young children know the dangers of them and if you or someone you know does get stung, seek immediate medical attention.

You can also lessen pain by covering the area with tape and then ripping it off. That helps to remove any embedded spines and decreases the pain. Stay safe and away from this creature!

He Films His Dog Digging At The Beach. When He Lifts Up His Head He Reveals THIS Surprise!

image via – youtube.com

A day at the beach is best enjoyed by laying in the sun, jumping in the ocean to cool off and swim in the waves, and digging in the sand! Of course, it’s always better when you have a few friends with you to play with, but even if you don’t you can always meet some new ones at the shore.

At least that’s one dog’s easy going approach to beach life and she sure makes the most of it! While there are lots of smart puppies out there in the world, this one is named Sheila. She’s gentle, sweet, energetic, and loves to make new friends on the fly.

One day she was out enjoying a walk down on Guanico Beach in Panama when she decided to suddenly rustle up a new play partner. It was quite easy for her and all she had to do was bury her nose in the sand, dig a hole, and out popped a little crab!

As you can see from the clip, Sheila was absolutely delighted to see her new friend, but the angry little crustacean was not so pleased about being disturbed. The crab darted around aggressively while throwing up its pincers for protection.

Despite all of his posturing, the cute little crab had nothing to worry about because Sheila was extra gentle while interacting with him. She took care to not step on him and while she snapped at it, she never truly went in for a bite, it was all done in fun.

After chasing and bouncing around on the beach with her new friend, the crab finally had enough and put an end to it. All he had to do was stay very still and soon enough Sheila’s attention shifted elsewhere and she lost interest.

All’s well that ends well and no crabs were harmed during the making of this video.

They Were Swimming In Australia Looking For Sea Turtles. Then They Heard an Odd Sound

Some people can only dream of swimming in the open ocean alongside wild whales. For two extremely lucky boaters who were out on the water, that dream became a reality. They now have one heck of a whale tale to tell after their extremely rare and awesome encounter with two of the massive mammals.

Brad Nicholls and his girlfriend Emmy-Rose Curtis had left dry land and gone out in search of sea turtles off the Gold Coast of Australia when they happened across a mother humpback whale and her baby calf. Not wanting to miss the opportunity, the adventurous couple seized the moment and quickly jumped into the water to swim around with the huge mammals.

The whales didn’t seem to mind the human company and even hung around for about an hour or so. That’s much longer than what they typically stay for, which is usually just a couple of minutes. Thankfully Nicholls and Curtis brought along plenty of film equipment since they also happened to be testing out some new camera gear suited specifically for underwater use.

Curtis told the local news station, ABC 7, “we were just playing around underwater with the GoPros and all of a sudden there was something much larger than a turtle there. In ten years I have never seen this type of behavior for whales with a boat, let alone with us in the water.” Both he and Curtis work for whale watching companies and so they’re really familiar with whale behavior and comfortable being in the water with them.

The fact that they see the mammals day after day and never get a chance to be able to swim with them also makes their story all the more sweeter! They managed to snap a few selfies with the massive mammals as well as capture some video footage that you can check out below.

For the most part, the whales stayed near the surface while the pair swam happily around. One of the cooler things that happened during their encounter was when they managed to communicate with the peaceful giants by slapping on the surface of the water and the whales slapped back with their fins.

What began as a routine boat ride for the couple turned into the swim of a lifetime- You have to see the footage to truly appreciate how magical it all was, enjoy!

Elderly Granny Notices 4 Strange Boys On Her Property. When She Realizes What They’re Doing She’s STUNNED!

image via – youtube.com

Throughout America cities and communities have enacted rules and regulations regarding the upkeep of residential properties.  If you’ve ever lived in a place with a HOA, homeowners association, then you probably now how strict and picky they can be. Many of the bylaws on the books encompass people’s lawns and what is or is not allowed can vary greatly depending on where you live.  For the most part, any yard that is overgrown, dead, or looks neglected will generally fall afoul of the rules and that’s when local officials may take action against the property owner.

For the past fifty nine years 75 year old Gerry Suttle had lived in her home in the small town of Reisel, Texas.  She had recently been issued a notice to appear in court before a judge because the grass on a lot she owns across the street was found to be in violation of the city code.  Several weeks before the notice was sent officials had measured the grass on that property and it came in at 18 inches high, which was too long and broke the rules.

When Miss Suttle failed to appear in court a warrant was issued for her arrest which drew the attention of the local news.  In an interview with the reporter she told them that she had never even received the notice in the first place and that’s why she missed the court date.

The next day Miss Suttle was inside her house when she looked up and saw four young boys outside carting lawn equipment in the hot Texas sun.  They had seen her on the news the evening before and wanted to help. The boys, all brothers, couldn’t believe that a 75 year old woman was at risk of being arrested and jailed for something as petty as not mowing the grass on a property she owned.  One of the boys, Blaine Reynolds, one of the bothers, insisted it was the very least they could do.

The brothers got right down to it and started to cut the grass.  The lot was quite large, and they knew it would take a while because all they had were push mowers and the temperature was well over 90 degrees.  Seeing what was happening, some neighbors nearby were inspired to act. Several came over with riding mowers and that turned out to be a major help.  Two hours later the lawn had been fully mowed and the lot was now in compliance.

Watching on, Miss Suttle was blown away by the kindness of the boys.  They were strangers who helped her out without expecting anything in return and the simple act of mowing the lawn restored her faith in young people.

The next day authorities informed her that if she just went to the courthouse and signed some papers indicating that she didn’t receive the original notice to appear, the warrant would be dropped.  However, before she could even do that, she received yet another court summons the following day. Municipal officials had disallowed all the hard work the boys and her neighbors had done, but this time she decided to fight the alleged violation of city code.

Upon hearing that Miss Suttle would have to go to court, the boys said they’d be more than willing and happy to mow the lawn again in order to help her out.  After all, she’s 75 years old and no one would want their mother or grandmother doing hard yard work in the extreme Texas heat. Perhaps the municipality can find a better way of working with her on the issue and back down from threatening to arrest her over the length of the grass!

Apparently This Is The Scary Reason Why You Don’t See Fireflies On Your Lawn Anymore

Many people have some really fond memories of the happy, carefree times they spent outside searching for lightning bugs. It’s basically a childhood tradition to run around at dusk, looking for the tell-tale green lights, trying to track them down catch them. However, something strange has been happening lately!

If you’ve noticed that there just aren’t as many fireflies as there used to be, you’re not alone. All across the country, and the world, the little glowing bugs are fast disappearing. With each passing year there seems to be less and less lighting up the night and it will be a sad day when fireflies are gone forever.

Researchers and scientists have been documenting the phenomenon and along with bees, butterflies, and many other insects whose numbers are also in decline, the primary cause is being attributed to mostly human activities. In particular, the insects are losing their natural habitat as humans move in and take over the land.

The constant development and population growth means that there are fewer places for fireflies to live, breed, and thrive. They prefer cool, damp areas in and around forests where there is an abundance of rotting wood and bodies of standing water.

Another big issue they face is related to the explosive increase in light pollution. Between street lights, car lights, flood lights around houses, and all of the countless other sources of bright artificial light that illuminate the night sky, there’s a lot for them to contend with.

Light pollution is terrible for fireflies because it messes with their ability to light up and signal one another, which is how they mate. If they aren’t glowing as much, they aren’t reproducing as much, and that’s a major part of why there are noticeably less fireflies with each passing summer.

Finally, the extensive overuse of pesticides is killing scores of innocent lightning bugs. Chemical pesticides are extremely harsh and can be toxic to all forms of life, including your own. They kill much more than what they are intended for. In fact, pesticides are why bees are disappearing in such alarming numbers and many of the most common and widely used varieties are lethal to them.

In addition, the runoff containing the toxic chemicals ends up polluting rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, and basically any body of water, even watersheds, aren’t immune from their ill effects. In the end, it’s best for everyone, especially mother nature, to just say no to using pesticides.

As bleak as the firefly situation seems, there are some things you can do to help the cool little bugs out and make a positive difference. The easiest and most obvious thing you can do is limit the amount of light pollution you’re contributing to the environment.

Use lights with motion detectors so they aren’t always on and turn off any that may be unnecessary at night. You’ll not only save energy and money, you’ll also see more lightning bugs in the long run.

Next, give them a place to live. They don’t need much, just some natural vegetation like rotten logs and composting leaves is enough for them. If you can, rather than clean up everything on your property, leave part of it wild and untouched. Finally, stop using chemical pesticides! Opt for organic and other natural alternative solutions instead.

All that it takes is a little knowledge and awareness to help stem the drastic decline in lightning bug numbers. Please do what you can and be sure to pass this information on with friends and family so that future generations will be able to enjoy fireflies for years to come!
