Does Your Cat Do The Head Bump All The Time? THIS Is The Strange and Surprising Reason Why.
image via – youtube.com
Cats have held important roles all throughout history and practically everyone knows how the ancient Egyptians worshiped them as sacred. Fewer people are aware of the fact that up until several hundred years ago there were no cats at all in North America.
It wasn’t until they were brought over from Europe to help manage with pest control that they were first introduced to this side of the Atlantic. In that short span of time felines have managed to win over our hearts and in the process, our homes.
Today they are the number one most popular pet animal with an estimated 88 million of them in the US alone. A 2014 Carroll University study found that 11.5% of people identify themselves as cat people yet 30.4% of US households own a cat.
The study found all sorts of interesting things about cat owners, they’re 11% more likely to be introverted and 17% more likely to have a graduate degree, but it failed to shed light on more pressing cat issues….like why they do the things they do!
If you’ve ever wondered why your cat does certain things, here are the top most common cat behaviors decoded and explained in human terminology. The accompanying video goes over them as well in greater detail, be sure to check it out so that when your cat displays them, you’ll know what kitty is saying or conveying:
Headbutting- Your cat is saying hello and likes you! When they bump their head against you it’s also called ‘bunting’ which is a friendly gesture and a common manner in which cats greet people. They do it when they feel safe and as a way to rub their scent glands on you, which is a compliment so be thankful. Don’t get too excited though because they also love to do it to the couch! 🙂
Randomly sprinting to and fro- Your cat is trying to get in some exercise. Unlike dogs who get to go on long walks, domestic cats lack that luxury and basically have to walk themselves. They do that by bursting into a sudden ball of energy and running full speed across the house. Like most of the things cats do, they do it seemingly randomly whenever and wherever they want, but mostly when they’re feeling restless.
Spreading their legs- Your cat trusts you. An open legged position means that a cat is comfortable enough around you to fully submit and recognize that you’re in charge. Splaying their legs is a felines way of showing you vulnerability in the most vulnerable way they possibly can.
Sticking their behind in your face- Your cat wants to get to know you. When they back their rears up to your face it may seem offensive to you, butt it’s anything butt that! It’s actually kitty saying ‘hey what’s up’ to you because cats communicate mainly via scent and it turns out that butt sniffing is their main way of greeting one another.
Shake their booty before pouncing- Your cat is balancing itself. The booty quaking is adorable, funny, and a major part of why we love cats so much, but it’s actually part of a larger movement they’re doing to help balance themselves. To find equal footing a cat wiggles and part of that motion involves the entire leg and foot, which is what we end up seeing.
Kneading you like dough- Your cat is thinking back to their baby kitten days when they fed from their mother. This instinct is very strong in cats and while it’s original purpose, to get more milk from their mother’s breast, is no longer warranted, they do it anyways. Often it’s a sign of comfort and relaxation and
Laying on your stuff- Your cat wants attention. When you stare at your laptop all day long, your cat notices and when they want your attention they will sit right on it, front and center. Kitty’s don’t always need their human’s attention but when they feel the urge they always get what they want. It’s a simple as that.
Ignoring food in front of them, then eating random stuff- Your cat isn’t hungry or can’t see the food. Cats are grazers and will eat whenever they’re hungry. If you give them food at a time when they are not yet hungry, they won’t eat it. Also, they can’t see anything directly in front of their face because they’re near sighted. Anything within a foot is out of focus.
Burying their poops- Your cat is protecting itself. In an evolutionary, instinctual sense, a cat burying its number two is done to avoid other predators from getting a whiff of it and becoming alerted to their presence. In multi-cat households, they also cover it up to avoid offending other more dominant cats. However, when they fail to bury their doo-doo it can mean they’re possibly angry at you or offended by something you did.
Sleeping a lot- Your cat is normal. On average cats live 12-15 years and spend 70% of their lives asleep. Kittens need more sleep than adult cats because that’s how they get big and strong, when they’re asleep their bodies release growth hormones.

THIS Baby Tugs On This Cat’s Foot and Leg But The Cat’s Reaction Has Gone Viral!
image via – youtube.com
Cats and babies seem like they naturally go well together. They’re both cute, adorable little creatures who love nothing more than to sleep, cuddle, and snuggle. While most cats and babies do in fact go very well together, there’s always the chance that they won’t get along. Sometimes it takes time for them to warm up to each other but once boundaries are established, they usually end up best friends.
When one couple decided to adopt a cat named Lemsie, they were naturally hesitant to introduce her to their baby boy. They weren’t sure how the pair would get along, but they knew they had to let them meet. They really wanted them to bond and grow up together so when the cat was sitting down relaxed and calm, they placed their toddler next to her.
The baby was immediately taken by his new feline friend and looked thrilled to finally be close to her. He reached out and gently held Lemsie’s back legs before resting his head down on them. His bright little smile lit up the room and showed just how much he was loving his furry new friend. Now came the moment of truth; how would Lemsie react to the baby touching her?
Lemsie moved towards the child’s head and started to gently lick him! She was grooming him like he was a kitten and being sweet and gentle. The roughest thing about their whole interaction was probably her tongue. While most cats don’t like their legs being grabbed, she didn’t seem to mind at all.
Not once did she show any aggression or ill will towards the baby and when her owners saw how accepting and tolerant of the toddler she was, they knew they wouldn’t have to worry about the two being around each other.
Their faces say it all, they love each other and are happy to finally be able to cuddle. It looks like the beginning of a wonderful friendship and the first of many memories to come.

Pre-Teen Loses Her Cat and Goes Into Sewer To Find It. 45 Minutes Later Someone Hears Her Crying In Terror!
image via – youtube.com
When Hannah Siler’s cat went missing, she didn’t waste a beat and immediately went out looking for it. The 12 year old girl from Pascagoula, Mississippi was desperate to find her kitty and if you’ve ever had the misfortune of having your cat going missing, then you know the pure heartbreak that goes right along with it. You will look anywhere and everywhere, after all cats are masters at hiding and can squeeze into the strangest, tightest of places.
As she searched around the neighborhood, something drew Hannah to a nearby storm drain. When she stooped down to look inside the dark hole, she saw two yellow glowing eyes staring right back at her. They were certainly not cat eyes, they belonged to a seven foot long alligator instead!
Alarmed at the strange sight, Hannah screamed aloud in surprise That drew her stepmother, Brooque Snow, who came running out to see what the matter was. When Brooque first peered down into the drain she couldn’t believe her eyes, the alligator looked huge, and she had to have a second look before she could believe what she was seeing.
Once the initial shock had worn off, Brooque snapped a quick picture of the strange sight and notified the authorities. Minutes later animal control officers showed up and they worked to quickly block off any exits so that the gator couldn’t escape. The men worked to wrangle the animal out of the drain and when they finally pulled the twisting, feisty gator out they realized it was too big for the two of them to take on alone.
They needed additional professional help, so they called in trappers from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife and Fisheries who managed to finally subdue and remove the alligator from the storm drain. When they pulled it out, they noticed it was covered in bloody patches from its time in the sewer. No one could be sure how long it had been stuck and if it hadn’t been spotted by Hannah, it surely would have died down there.
After holding the stressed alligator for observation, and giving it time to heal, it was released into a nearby river outside the city and away from people. It turned out to be the best outcome for everyone involved, gator included.

If Your Yard Ever Has One of These Brown Patches Don’t Go Near It or Touch It and Keep Your Kids and Pets Far Away!
image via – youtube.com
So now that summer is here we are all going to be spending so much more time outside. Nothing feels better than stepping out of your house or apartment breathing in the fresh air, feeling the warm sunshine hit your face and just simply enjoying a beautiful day. We will all be spending a lot more time outside whether it is our backyards, the local park, the pool or the beach. Laying in the grass with a towel and catching some rays is definitely a favorite hobby of mine.
This brings us to today’s article. We have all been out in our backyards, our friends lawn, a public park or basically anywhere where the grass grows. Seeing a brown patch of grass doesn’t really seem like a big deal and most of us just overlook it and think, “What’s the big deal it’s just a circle of dead grass?”
While sometimes this can be the case, a brown patch of grass can be something much more than that. Now have no fear, the brown patch of grass is not dangerous and it isn’t going to hurt you, however what’s lurking just beneath it could be potentially hurt by you.
Confused? So was I until I learned about this little known fact about nature. As it turns out, that innocuous patch of brown grass could have a family of animals living right beneath it. In today’s story a man in Ontario, Canada noticed one of these brown patches on his lawn and then looked closer and saw the patch moving like the earth beneath had a mind of it’s own! He immediately called Ontario Wildlife Removal to see if they had any idea what this could be.
The expert from the Ontario Wildlife Removal got to the house inspected the strange brown moving patch of grass and quickly realized it was a rabbit’s nest filled with a bunny family just below the surface. He took a closer look and saw a litter of tiny hairless rabbits. He took some pictures in and a video you can watch in the video below.
The expert explains if you see one of these brown patches do not touch it under any circumstances. Even if you see a litter of ‘abandoned’ baby rabbits moving, the mother is most likely very close by and only brings them food twice per day. Many people don’t know this, but the reason the nests are usually in plain sight near human houses or apartments in the middle of your lawn or park is because predators tend to stay away from these places because they are afraid of people!
These dangerous predators who would otherwise eat baby rabbits won’t even attempt to approach the nests because they are too scared to come too close to the human population. Little did I know I was a baby rabbit protector! I don’t know about you but that’s a job I’ll take and do it free!
These baby rabbits are safe from their natural predators such as foxes, wolves and coyotes however, little kids, dogs and outdoor cats now become their biggest threat. Your best bet if you spot one these brown patches in your yard is to make sure your kids and pets can’t get to it until the baby bunnies are ready to leave the nest.
Baby rabbits grow extremely fast and within just a few weeks, that brown patch on your lawn will be vacant because the baby bunnies will be big enough and strong enough to fend for themselves in the wild. So next time you see one of these brown patches on the grass keep your distance and let your friends and family know.
Watch the video below for a full explanation and footage of the baby bunnies and what you should look for:
