THIS Is The Strange Reason Why If You Spot a Centipede In Your House You Shouldn’t Ever Step On It

image via – youtube.com

Your home is supposed to be your sanctuary, a place where you can relax, unwind, and kick off your shoes. However, any sense of tranquility is easily shattered if you’ve ever spotted a house centipede crawling around your personal space. If you’re blissfully unaware of what a house centipede looks like, prepare to be enlightened.

The hideous looking creatures have what appear to be like a hundred legs, but according to Wikipedia there are actually only 15 pairs of legs, the key word being pairs! All of these long sets of legs stick out from their inch or longer bodies and to top it all off they have an extra long pair of antennae that makes them look way bigger than they actually are. They are downright ugly and unless you’re a fan of creepy crawlies, then you likely won’t enjoy these things running around your house.

Speaking of running, they are super fast so all of those spindly legs aren’t for nothing! Oftentimes people spot them because they suddenly dart out from whatever dark corner or crack they were hiding in. The sight is jarring and naturally your first instinct is to squash the sucker dead, but killing the bugs is precisely what you should NOT do! As odd as it sounds, once you know the reasons why they should be left alone, you’ll understand that it’s ultimately for the greater good.

First off, house centipedes are like tiny little pest controllers. They hunt out and kill other bugs that are invading your house and their appetites know no boundaries. They will eat spiders, moths, roaches, flies, silverfish, and even termites which can be a very damaging and expensive pest to have around your home. They themselves do not cause any structural damage, if anything the sight of them may take an emotional toll on you, but that’s it. Best of all, they’re a natural alternative to harsh chemical bug deterrents and they cost absolutely nothing.

Next, they are considered harmless to humans. They are more likely to run away from you rather than towards you, plus they’re mainly active at night time so you probably won’t ever even see them. While they do have poisonous venom, which they use to kill all those other bugs, their mouths and jaws are usually not big or strong enough to penetrate our skin.

However, on extremely rare occasions they have succeeded in biting a person and the effect is comparable to that of a bee sting. Minor redness, pain, and swelling may accompany it, but the chances of you getting munched on by one would be like winning the lottery or being killed by a shark; it’s just not going to happen.

Finally, if the thought of centipedes crawling through your home is too much for you to bear, simply take preventative measures to keep them out. Seal any cracks or places where they could possibly get in and keep all areas, especially basements and garages, damp-free and as dry as possible. You can leave sticky tape traps to catch them or call a professional pest controller in, but they really shouldn’t be a major issue unless you have an infestation or a severe phobia of bugs with a million legs!

Pitbull Was Pregnant But Refused To Birth Her Litter! The Vet Was Stunned When He Saw THIS On Her Ultrasound!

image via – youtube.com

Rescuing and fostering animals isn’t easy, but for one couple it’s truly a labor of love.  Over the years Chris and Mariesa have opened their hearts and home to many dogs in need. They believe that their shared passion has only made them grow closer together and since there’s always animals who need rescuing, they take in new dogs whenever they can.

The couple had seen that a pregnant pit bull named Storie was up for adoption at a local animal shelter and they immediately knew that they had to rescue her.  Shelters are incredibly stressful environments for animals with all the strange smells, noises, people and other animals around. For a pregnant dog the stress is amplified and that can mean bad news for both mom and her puppies.  Chris and Mariesa knew they had to take Storie in and they headed straight to the shelter to pick her up.

When they got their they talked to shelter employees who told them that Storie should have given birth already and that perhaps she hadn’t because she was stressed.  The couple brought the heavily pregnant dog straight to the vet to have her checked and that’s when they discovered something shocking. An ultrasound revealed that Storie was carrying 12 puppies!

They were amazed and then the realization set in that they’d have to care for all the newborns and mother, so they got right down to business.  They set up a cozy place for Storie to give birth out of a kiddie pool filled with blankets in a kennel outside their house and the heavily pregnant dog settled right in.

Thinking that they still had a couple of days to go before their new dog went into labor, the couple were shocked when just 12 hours after she went home with them, she gave birth to her first puppy.  Storie had gone into labor because she finally felt safe and comfortable enough! Incredibly, all 12 puppies were born healthy soon afterwards and within 18 hours of being in their new home.

Chris and Mariesa were overjoyed that they’d been able to help Storie but now they had 13 new dogs to care for on top of the other ones they already had.  It wasn’t before long that the puppies became a handful, they loved to play, run around the house, and fight with each other. Each one had its own personality and quirks which made it easy to tell them apart and name them.  Even though they loved all they puppies, they knew that everyone would be better off in new homes.

Thankfully, Pibbles and More Animal Rescue helped them find forever homes for all twelve puppies.  People had heard about Storie and her babies and interest was high, the rescue group received numerous adoption applications.  Even Storie ended up getting a new forever home with Chris and Mariesa’s friend who offered to take her in.

It ended up working out for the best because the couple still get to visit and see her all the time, while being able to help other dogs since the space is freed up.  It’s amazing what a little love and understanding can do, and for one pit bull and her 12 puppies, it made all the difference in the world.

Two Men Try To Save Drowning Baby Zebra But That’s When The Zebra Mom Confronts Them and Does The Unthinkable!

image via – youtube.com

Many people are torn when it comes to zoos and animal parks. On the one hand a lot believe that these animals shouldn’t be placed in small artifical enclosures and think they deserve to be in the wild where they are meant to be. On the other hand, many animals at zoos and wildlife centers are rescued from poachers, sketchy circuses or were accidentally wounded and wouldn’t survive unless they were rescued. Also, wildlife centers and zoos give us such an in depth view and understanding of these magnificent creatures, which gives us an opportunity to understand and help their fellow animals who are trying to coexist in a world filled with humans.

Regardless of where you stand on zoos, the animals themselves should be cherished and treated with decency, love and respect. Sometimes we are treated to the very rare sight of seeing these amazing animals give birth and help keep the numbers of their species above the endangered list. The first and probably most famous zoo animal birth that almost everybody on the entire planet remembers is good old April the Giraffe. People waited and waited for months as they watched the pregnant giraffe in awe waiting for that exact moment she would give birth. Instead of watching their usual tv shows, movies or video games, people were glued to April’s live stream waiting for that baby to come.

When the day finally came it was pretty much like Christmas to many people as the world rejoiced, a new miracle baby giraffe was in the world and all the time, interest and love people put into pregnant giraffe April and her soon-to-be baby all paid off in the end. Although baby animals aren’t born everyday in zoos and no birth really matched the curiousity and worldwide attention as April it still does happen and it is just as exciting when it does!

This brings us to today’s amazing story which features a Zoo in Valencia, Spain called Biopark which is one of the biggest and most popular zoos in the region. The zoo contains over a whopping 4,000 animals and specializes in African wildlife and fauna. However, the zoo is most well known for its intricate and incredibly designed habitats. They use a technique called zoo immersion where people are literally immersed into the habitats with the wildlife without actually disturbing the incredible creatures. Instead of the usual ugly and potentially inhumane cages, they use mostly natural barriers like rivers, lakes, ponds and streams to seperate tourists from the animals.

At first when people get to Biopark they sometimes feel a bit uneasy because it feels like these wild animals could easily jump out of these immersive habitats, since mostly everyone is used to the classic cage design. However, these immersive designs have proven time and time again to be just as safe or even safer then a standard zoo cage habitat. This brings us to the main part of today’s story, which is somewhat of a zebra love story/fairy tale. La Nina a mare and a colt name Zambe were introduced into the immersive and well designed zebra habitat. The two immediately became fond of one another spending most of their days and nights together and soon enough, as it usually happens in nature La Nina was impregnanted.

This beautiful zebra couple were going to have a beautiful baby zebra and start a family! After 13 long months of pregnancy mama was finally ready to give birth. Employees of the zoo knew the day was coming as they all watched to make sure everything went smooth without any complications. Soon guests at the zoo had heard the whispers that the zebra birth was about to happen and they too flocked to watch this mama give birth to her baby. The birth was a quickie, almost as soon as the baby popped it’s little head out the rest of it’s body followed suit. Everything seemed to be running on schedule, no complications and the beauty and miracle of new life was on display for all to see.

When zebras are born in the wild, they immediately get their land legs usually within the first 10-15 minutes after they are born due to the threat of predators. So just as they do in the wild this baby also found his legs and was up and trotting around exploring the habitat within 10-20 minutes. This baby zebra was a bit overzealous and let curiousity get the best of him as he trotted extremely close to the water in the habitat. The clumsy young baby stumbled and fell head first into the watering hole.

At first the people watching didn’t think much of it and you could even hear laughter as people really didn’t understand how dangerous a situation this actually was. Her zebra mom attempted to stop the baby before it tumbled into the water but because she was so exhausted from being pregnant and giving birth she couldn’t hold the baby back from the water. While visitors had a good chuckle, the zoo staff immediately knew this was a bad situation that could go from an amazing moment to a devastating tragedy ending with the baby drowning!

The zoo staff dove into the water and began swamming towards the baby who was taking on water and if intervention didn’t happen soon this baby would soon drown. Luckily the staff got to the baby in time, however the mama zebra’s mom instincts kicked into full gear even though she was completely exhausted. When she saw these predators (aka zoo staff) approaching and picking up her baby she immediately went into ferocious fight mode. She wasn’t going to let any predators let alone humans touch her baby without a very serious fight……

THIS Group Of Elephants Stands In Line Everyday To Hug This Lady. This Is The Strange Reason Why!

usage via – youtube.com

The ivory trade is one of the world’s oldest, cruelest, and most inhumane types of trade.  Every year thousands of animals are killed for their ivory tusks, with elephants being slaughtered at alarming rates and suffering the most from it.  Poachers have decimated herds and wild elephant numbers are steadily declining.

One woman, Dr. Dame Daphne Sheldrick, saw this happening in her own back yard.  Along with her husband she was the co-warden of the Tsavo National Park in Kenya and when he passed away in 1977, she started the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT).  Her goal was to help rescue and save as many orphaned elephants as she possibly could, and she succeeded, today it’s the most successful orphan rehabilitation program on the planet.

Orphaned baby elephants are notoriously hard to care for.  To survive they require constant, specialized care and a certain type of milk formula that contains coconut oil, which Daphne found only after trying every possible milk source she could get her hands on.  When she did finally find the proper type of milk that the elephants, and rhinos, could tolerate and thrive off of, it was the breakthrough she’d been looking for and made her work possible.

When a newly orphaned baby elephant arrives at the sanctuary they are under deep emotional and physical distress.  Some are injured and all are scarred after seeing their mothers and possibly other family members slaughtered by poachers for nothing more than their ivory tusks.  They are not caged or penned in, instead they’re allowed to roam freely.

Each one is assigned their own handler who is like a surrogate mother, they take care of any and all needs the baby elephant might have.  They feed them, watch their health closely, play, and snuggle together. All of this is done with the goal of returning the elephant back into the wild, healthy and ready for the life it deserves.

Daphne was a leading voice in the fight against poaching and ending the ivory trade.  She saw firsthand the devastating effects it had on not only the elephants, but also the rhinos who are now facing extinction.  Her foundation has helped hundreds of elephants survive and return to the wild.

The saying “an elephant never forgets” is true in Daphne’s case because they never forgot her.  Over the years many came back to visit and bring their families to see her. They would line up to hug her and show their appreciation, and that alone made it all worth it to her.

Couple Spot a Strange Police Officer In Torrential Rain. But They’re Stunned When They Realize What She’s Doing!

image via – youtube.com

Police officers work to serve and protect the public, it’s the motto they swear by and everyday they answer calls all across the country of people seeking help.  While the majority of their time is spent dealing with traffic issues and disturbances involving people, sometimes they have to assist other animals in need. Simply put, cops never know what they are going to come across when on the job, and one Maryland police officer could have never guessed she’d be praised for what she did one dark and stormy day.

When Carolyn Hammett and her husband were driving near their home in Greenbelt, Maryland they witnessed the cops selfless act.  Rain was coming down in sheets, it was absolutely pouring outside, and yet up ahead in the middle of the road was a dark figure.  As they got closer the couple realized that it was a police officer and she was standing over something on the road. The officer was soaking wet and yet she was smiling down at her feet, looking as happy as a clam out in the storm.

When they finally got close enough the Hammett’s realized that the cop was standing guard over a snapping turtle!  Someone had luckily spotted the turtle trying to cross the road and told the officer who then stopped to assist it.  Since it was raining hard the little guy wasn’t easy to see and she didn’t want it to get hit by a car, so she pulled over and stood by it.  Being a snapping turtle, she couldn’t just pick it up without risking getting bit, plus it’s best to not handle any wild creatures. Either way, the officer wanted to keep it safe and had become the turtle’s bodyguard for the duration of his crossing.

Carolyn and her husband were amazed at what the officer was doing.  They knew most people would just keep driving, and even fewer would actually stand in the rain in the middle of the road to protect a turtle.  Inspired by the selfless act, they too pulled over and Carolyn’s husband jumped out of the car with an umbrella in hand. He ran over to the officer and shielded her from the rain while they chatted about the turtle’s predicament.

The officer had called animal control to come move the turtle out of the road, but there was no telling when they’d arrive.  For now, all she could do was stand guard and wait. Having dealt with snappers before, the Hammett’s knew just what to do. They ran home and got two shovels, then used them to pick the turtle up off the road and place him on the side where he’d be safe.  Now they could all rest easy and change into warn, dry clothes!

The cop who was guarding the turtle that day was Officer Sharnise Hawkins-Graham.  She ended up being awarded the 2017 Greenbelt Police Officer of the Year for her outstanding service and dedication, shown not only on that rainy day, but all throughout the year.  It’s inspiring to see others act so unexpectedly compassionate towards even the smallest of creatures among us, and when the Hammett’s saw Officer Hawkins-Graham, they were moved to help out as well.

She Moves Into a Home and Finds Flowers On Her Porch Everyday. After 3 Weeks She Realizes Why..

image via – youtube.com

Moving into a new house is just as exciting as it is stressful.  There’s so much to get done, but once you’re finished you can finally relax in your new surroundings and meet the neighbors.  There seems to always be neighborhood characters and little quirks that are unique to each location, and as time goes on you start to notice little things about your new place.

For one woman in the UK named Rosie, a strange occurrence kept happening after she moved into her new house.  Pretty little pink flowers were regularly appearing on her porch seemingly out of nowhere. There were no matching flowers in her garden or on her property and the only explanations she could think of, such as the wind blowing them to the same spot time and again, just didn’t add up.

Miffed at the whole thing, Rosie kept an eye out for a possible secret admirer and went about her business. Time went by and the flowers kept coming, there was a new one every couple of days.  Then one evening Rosie was cooking dinner when she noticed a movement on her front porch.

It was the neighbor’s cat, Willow, coming up with a pink flower in her mouth! The sweet kitty had been bringing her floral presents the whole time and now Rosie had witnessed it and knew the truth behind the mystery. Rosie had met Willow when she first moved in but had no idea the cat held her in such high regards.

It turns out that Willow likes to go around to all the neighbors and visit them, but Rosie is the only one she brings flowers to.  Now that the two are closer, Rosie gives her extra special attention and treats. She even lets her in the house where Willow loves to curl up and nap on the couch.

This is one cat who knows how to win hearts over! Enjoy the video below!
